My August 2025 Round Up
- what I did this month -
Hello, friends, and welcome back to another Round Up! I feel like I blinked, and August is already almost over. There’s a lot to get into, so let’s get started!
What I’ve Been Reading Recently:
The Red Pyramid (The Kane Chronicles #1) by Rick Riordan
Quick Book Summary: Carter and Sadie Kane thought they had pretty normal lives, despite being separated by continents since they were little. It’s not until their father accidentally unleashes five Egyptian gods (including the evil god Set) in an experiment gone wrong that they have to work together. Relying on their brand new Egyptian skills, a helpful cat goddess, and their own ingenuity, Carter and Sadie race to stop Set from destroying all of mankind before it’s too late.
I will admit, it took me a bit to get into this book, but once you reach the ⅓rd mark, it really picks up! I loved the writing style and the side characters (Anubis, Zia, and Bast were wonderful)! I’d definitely recommend this book.
Greenglass House (Greenglass House #1) by Kate Milford
Quick Book Summary: Milo and his parents run a hotel in their little town called Greenglass House. Greenglass House is finally empty for the holidays, and Milo is excited for two whole weeks of vacation, until unexpected guests start arriving. It’s not long until Milo, his parents, and his new friend Meddy are embroiled in a mystery – things keep disappearing from the house, and someone is to blame. The only question is who?
This is my third or fourth time reading this book, and I love it so much! It has fleshed out characters, a good mystery, and a wonderful writing style. I’d recommend it to anyone who loves books like The Mysterious Benedict Society and A Series of Unfortunate Events.
What I’ve Been Listening To Recently:
I found the composer Ophelia Wilde a few months ago, and I recently listened to her new track “summer”. The beautiful piano piece really captures summer and how it’s starting to fade with fall approaching fast!
Wildflowers by Maddie Poppe is a track I just discovered the other day! I love the whimsical lyrics and fun beat so much!
A Writing Update:
I have a few updates!
I finished combing through my first draft for lines in my story that I wanted to keep – surprisingly, it took me longer than I was expecting. But I realized soon after that I needed to spend more time figuring out my characters’ desires and motivations after I finished the reverse outline.
So, no, I haven’t started my second draft yet, but I’m getting awfully close! I’m so excited to dive back into my world, but I need to make sure I understand my characters and plot first. Hopefully by the end of September, I’ll be ready to start.
A Life Update:
August has been such a fun, wild month! I started school and have been busy juggling lots of different subjects with a few extracurriculars thrown in. For fun, I’ve been playing video games with my family, playing songs on my ukulele, and working on writing when I can! 😄
I’d love to know about your adventures in August down below!

What a lovely August round up! May your September be equally full and blessed. 💕
(I'm now off to check out Ophelia Wilde's compositions, because they sound beautiful.)
Those two books were really fun reads for me! I'm glad you're enjoying them too.😁
