My December 2025 Round Up
- what I did this month -
Happy December everyone, and happy holidays! I can’t believe it’s already the end of 2025 and soon we’ll be in 2026! So many amazing things happened this year —including the release of my short story in the anthology Firefly Tales — and I’m so excited to dive into the new year.
There’s a lot to get to, so let’s get started!
What I’ve Been Reading Recently:
Tree. Table. Book. by Lois Lowry
Quick Book Summary: Everyone knows that Younger Sophie and Older Sophie are best friends. It doesn’t matter that they live across the street from each other, or that Older Sophie is 77 years older than Younger Sophie. But what does matter is that Older Sophie is starting to forget things and her son is coming all the way from Arizona to take her to a nursing home. So Younger Sophie decides to give Older Sophie a memory test to get rid of her memory problems for once and for all. But Younger Sophie finds that some memories – no matter how old they are — can stick with you for your entire life.
This was such a good book. I love Lois Lowry’s style of writing so much, and she knocked this book out of the park. I adored all of the characters and the callbacks to WWII and Older Sophie’s forgotten past. As someone who loves genealogy, I loved the theme of “passing the stories to the next generation”. Preserving stories is so important!
The Ersatz Elevator (A Series of Unfortunate Events #6) by Lemony Snicket
Quick Book Summary: After foiling Count Olaf again (just barely) and leaving their newest location (just barely), the Baudelaire orphans are sent to live with a rich family not far from their own family home. But after Count Olaf makes yet another appearance and the Baudelaires learn that their friends, the Quagmires, are in danger, they must act fast before Olaf steals their fortunes.
This book is currently my favorite in the series. It’s one of the most clever Unfortunate Events books I’ve ever read, and the twists literally had me guessing until the end. I’m so excited that we’ll finally get more about the Baudelaires’ past in the upcoming books.
What I’m Listening To Recently:
With the release of the new Percy Jackson and The Olympians season, the Season 2 theme has been released! It’s so epic and beautiful on a grand scale, just like the show, and I love it so much.
“The Goose and the Common” is a song from the 1700s protesting the use of private land in England, but it was most recently used in the newest Hunger Games book, Sunrise on the Reaping. Maiah Wynne recently came out with an amazing rendition of the song that I’ve been listening to.
A Writing Update:
I did not write much on Project Royalty this month, but I was working on other writing projects for a Secret Santa exchange and for Christmas presents. I was really productive last month with Firefly Tales coming out, and this month was just slower writing wise. I’m hoping to get some decent work done in the New Year, though!
A Life Update:
Life is going well this month. I’ve made plenty of sweet treats, worked on presents, read more books than I can count (Goodreads reading goal, am I right?), watched lots of movies, and most recently, binged 12 episodes of a TV show in one day.😅
Also, Merry Christmas to all who celebrate!
I’d love to know about your adventures in December down below!
