My January 2025 Round Up
Happy 2025, y'all!
Well, it’s officially 2025! It’s been a whirlwind for me this month – if you haven’t seen my big announcement, you might want to check it out.
A lot has happened this month, so let’s get into it!
What I’ve Been Reading Recently:
Anne of Avonlea by Lucy Maud Montgomery
Quick Plot Summary: Sixteen-year-old Anne Shirley has graduated from high school, and she’s ready to teach the pupils of Avonlea School. But there are other adventures in Avonlea too: a grumpy new neighbor, the romantic love story of an old friend, and the two twins Marilla grudgingly brings under her wing. And amid all of this, Anne’s friends are beginning to grow up and experience love and incredible opportunities -- and Anne still feels like she’s being left behind.
I adore L.M. Montgomery’s storytelling style so much, and this was a wonderful read. I love Anne’s books, so it was a nice refreshing read.
The Best at It by Maulik Pancholy
Quick Plot Summary: Rahul is going into seventh grade. Not that he’s happy about it. In fact, he’s super anxious. So his grandfather, Bhai, gives him one goal for the school year: find something and be the BEST at it. As Rahul makes new friends and comes to terms with his identity while trying different activities…he wonders…what will happen if he’s not the best at anything?
This was an amazing book! I loved Rahul and his journey to find something he was the best at. His best friend was super fleshed out, as well as his crush, Justin, which I loved! There was an antagonist, too, but the problems with him balanced well with the rest of the book. (Plus the author is Baljeet from Phineas and Ferb, which made my day!)
What I’ve Been Listening To Recently:
There hasn’t been too much new music I’ve been listening to, but I like this How To Train Your Dragon Medley!
A Writing Update:
I’ve had lots of fun developments in my writing recently: among other things I was able to announce my involvement in an amazing anthology, wrote 4,000 words in a week-long writing challenge, reached 35,000 words in my WIP, and just started a writing class based on the Narnia book The Horse and His Boy!
I’d love to know if YOU have any writing updates in the comments below.
A Life Update:
Ah. Life.
January has been fairly busy. My family ended our holiday season with a stomach bug, watched all eight episodes of the pretty good show Skeleton Crew, and had various clubs and activities start. There’s also been a tiny bit of snow, but not much.
I’m hoping to read more books and edit more of MY book in February – do you have any goals for the next month?
I’d love to hear how your January is going in the comments below! Thanks for reading, and keep on being kind!💖
