My November 2025 Round Up
- what I did this month -
Hello, friends, and welcome to another post from The Kindness Cafe – and another Round Up! This is my second November Round Up on Substack, and I’m so grateful I get to continue posting these (and have been for over a year!).
This November has been wild – lots of classes, extracurriculars, and fun unexpected plans. There’s a lot to get into, so let’s get started!
What I’ve Been Reading Recently:
Merci Suarez Changes Gears by Meg Medina
Quick Book Summary: Merci Suarez is a sixth grader at Seward Pines Middle School, but she’s also a babysitter to her younger twin cousins and grandfather, an avid soccer player, and one of the most prominent people on Edna Santos’ revenge list. Merci’s new scholarship program assigns her a new student, Michael Clark, but Edna — who is also in the program — bullies Merci because she has a crush on him. Can Merci take care of her grandfather, help the new student, and stay away from Edna, all while staying true to herself and what she believes…even if that means standing up to a bully?
This book was a reread – I think I’ve read it two or three times before, and it’s such a good story! I love Merci’s voice and how she handles hard topics.
The Wind In The Willows by Kenneth Grahame
Quick Book Summary: Mole, Rat, Beaver, and Toad live their separate lives along the river bank - at least until Mole and Rat become best friends and stumble along Badger, who lives in the Wild Wood. When Toad makes rash decisions and ends up in danger, the three friends must band together to bail him out and make him a better person in the future.
I had never read The Wind In The Willows before, and I honestly fell in love with it. This was such a cozy, hilarious book filled with humor and heart.
What I’m Listening To Recently:
“Tangerine” by Fleurie is such a beautiful, cute song that I couldn’t stop listening to! I love the pop beat and how cozy it makes me feel.
“All The King’s Men” by Jax the Bard is so melodically pleasing. It actually kind of reminds me of Lord of the Rings in the best way possible.
A Writing Update:
I said at the beginning of the month that I was trying to write 15,000 words this month. I’ve written over 6,000 words this month so far, which isn’t as many as I was hoping, but I’m very proud of myself for writing so many.
Also, if you haven’t heard, my first book has been published! Firefly Tales is available to buy now!
We became a bestselling book, were #1 New Release in Fantasy Short Stories for over a week, AND we’ve sold over 250 copies! I’m so thrilled that our stories are finally out in the world for everyone to enjoy. If you haven’t yet, please go order a copy of Firefly Tales! If you’ve already read it, post a review on Amazon or Goodreads — we appreciate all the support!
A Life Update:
After lots of homework, activities, and writing achievements, I’m finally taking a break for the holidays. I’ve already written lots of words, made delicious food, and watched Newsies (one of my favorite musicals!).
Also, happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate!
I’d love to know about your adventures in November down below!
