My October 2025 Round Up
- what I did this month -
Hello, everyone, and welcome to my October Round Up! You might have noticed it’s not quite the end of the month, but I have some exciting updates coming soon and thought I’d post my Round Up this week.
Fall’s been wonderful here. It’s started cooling down and the leaves are turning into fantastic colors. October was full of busyness as well, so let’s get into it!
What I’ve Been Reading Recently:
Amari and the Great Game by B.B. Alston
Quick Book Summary: After surviving her first year at her magical school and moving up to the rank of Junior Agent, Amari Peters is convinced this summer will be a breeze. Well…until her best friend gets a scholarship to Oxford, the new Head Minister of the school issues an anti-magician policy, and the League of Magicians offers her a leadership position. But when Amari declines the League’s position, she’s pitted against a nemesis who she hoped she’d never see again. The only option for her to keep the League from her opponent is to agree to the Great Game…a game that will either tip the scales in her favor or manifest her worst nightmares.
This book was just what I needed after a reading slump. It was filled with humor, heart, mind-boggling twists, and a fun magical society. I loved it.
Agnes Grey by Anne Brontë
Quick Book Summary: Agnes Grey has always wanted to be a governess, but she doesn’t get the opportunity until her father loses money from a foolish investment. As Agnes ventures out into the world to teach her pupils, she must learn discipline, gentleness, and self-control if she wants to make a lasting impact on them. And then there’s the church organizer, Mr. Weston, who may or may not be in love with her…
I admittedly had never read anything by Anne Brontë (although I have read works by both Charlotte and Emily), and I wanted to rectify that this year. So I tried Agnes Grey. I love Anne’s writing style, and the characters were perfectly charming, especially Mr. Weston. I also liked how Anne brought up real life struggles that she and other governesses at that time would have gone through!
What I’m Listening To Recently:
“Aesop Mountain (Solo)” by Andy Thorn came up on my Discover Weekly this week, and I loved how the banjo created a fun, twangy beat that I couldn’t get out of my head.
“Free” by The Good Lovelies is one of my new favorites. This song has poignant lyrics, amazing harmonies, and a great tempo!
A Writing Update:
I mentioned last week I’ve been working on an October writing challenge to see how many words I could get down this month, and I’ve made fantastic progress! So far this month, I’ve written over 5,500 words on my second draft.
On the topic of writing, there’s some fun news coming soon! Keep an eye out for an exciting update.
A Life Update:
In terms of life news, October’s been busy! I took a big test, traveled with my family to see an awesome museum, spent some time with an adorable dog, rewatched Enola Holmes 2, drank lots of tea, and slowly watched the seasons change.
I’d love to know about your adventures in October down below!

What a lovely October Round Up, Addie! I really enjoyed reading your summary of Agnes Grey. So far, I've only read two of the Bronte sisters' works (Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights), but now I want to read Agnes Grey! 😂
Have a lovely rest of your October, and may November be full of everything you love. 💕
