My September 2025 Round Up
- what I did this month -
Hello, and welcome back to another Round Up! It’s now officially fall, which I am so excited about. Fall is such a cozy, beautiful season, and I wish it could last longer.
This September was full of fun moments, a fair share of surprises, and lots of tea! There’s a lot to get into, so let’s get started.
What I’ve Been Reading Recently:
The Fortune Tellers by Lloyd Alexander
Quick Book Summary: A young carpenter wonders if he’ll ever find a better life for himself. He decides to go to a fortune teller’s shop and ask him for advice. Taking the advice to heart, the carpenter and the fortune teller find both of their lives changed — for better or for worse!
This book is a picture book, which I don’t usually recommend, but it was so hilarious I couldn’t help but include it. This is a fast, engaging read with lots of humor and general playfulness. I also found the African culture and illustrations super fun!
The Odds of Getting Even by Sheila Turnage (Three Times Lucky #3)
Quick Book Summary: Detective partners Mo and Dale are ready to testify against one of the citizens of the town for doing some pretty horrible things, but when the citizen escapes and crimes start happening all over again, it’s up to Mo and Dale to put things right. But as the crimes get closer and closer to the people Mo loves, she has to be careful about who she trusts…or it may spell certain danger.
I’ve read the first two books in this series, and this one was even better. I’m super impressed that the author continually manages to make each book better than the last. I definitely recommend this book!
What I’ve Been Listening To Recently:
“Spades” by Oh Jeremiah and The Arcadian Wild is one of my new favorite songs. Besides including a favorite band (The Arcadian Wild), this song has a fun beat, catchy lyrics, and hasn’t been out of my head since I first heard it!
“Music Under the Mountain” is a haunting, beautiful track by Kelsey Woods, who also helped out with the music for Percy Jackson and the Olympians. I really love it!
A Writing Update:
I started my second draft! *intense screaming and jumping up and down*
I’m currently two and a half chapters and 3000+ words into the second draft of Project Royalty, and things are going pretty smoothly! I’d love to finish it by the end of this coming summer, but with a few other commitments and some exciting changes on the horizon, that might change.
I’m loving where the second draft is taking me so far, and I’m so excited to keep working on it into October!
A Life Update:
September has been incredibly fast paced. A ton of my extracurriculars picked up this month, and I’ve been working hard in school. I started my second draft and have read lots of good books also! My family and I have been watching lots of good TV and movies, including a recent rewatch of Minions.
I’d love to know about your adventures in September down below!
